Great Book Recommendations! – Part I

I am so thankful for good books – we are blessed to have several good ones out there available to us! However, sadly our world is progressively becoming more & more accepting of wicked things; calling evil good and good evil.

We need to give our children quality books to read. I’ve composed a list of great books that families and children of all ages can read. This is not an exhaustive list and will add a part II over time.

The Baker Family Adventures book series is filled with adventures & suspense, by C.R. Hedgcock:

Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan is a classic encouraging allegory about the Christian’s spiritual journey. Below is just one of several revised versions in modern English:

Hatchet book series by Gary Paulsen is a series about adventure & wilderness survival:

My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George is a book about independence, danger & courage:

The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings prelude & trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien are fantasy fiction classics:

Little House classic book series by Laura Ingalls Wilder features heartwarming stories about her childhood as an American Pioneer:

The House on Maple Street by Gina Morgan Handerhan is an uplifting story about a young girl’s childhood in the 1990’s and has been compared to Little House:

The Boxcar Children book series by Gertrude Chandler Warner is about four orphaned children who stay together and try to make it on their own.

Plain and Simple Thoughts for Children and Parents by William S. Plumer is a book of short sermons to little children:

Hearts of Fire by Voice of the Martyrs is about brave women in the underground church and their stories of faith:
