Scripture Cards

I have not made time for writing a new post in quite awhile! There are seasons for many things right?

Lately, what I have made time for is writing my personal scripture note cards – these have been so helpful to me! See examples below.

Thanks to a friend who sent me a photo of her own cards last year when I was struggling, I loved the idea. There are many great practices we can learn & grow in as Christians. For example, listening to sermons and taking sermon notes is a great practice. Reading your Bible and studying commentary from trusted theologians is a great practice. Making these cards? I say it’s a great practice as well!

I love that they are index card size & are small enough that I can carry them in my hand on a walk if I want to, or put them in my bag and they don’t take up a lot of “space”. However, any size will do.

In addition to God’s Word, I also write down some profound excerpts from my Reformation Heritage Study Bible study notes (learn more about this Bible here ). I even write down biblically inspirational, simple words that are also helpful to me.

Some may prefer to put these on their refrigerator or somewhere where they can easily view them throughout the day. I personally prefer to have mine “mobile”.… meaning, I keep them in a box-like open container I can easily scroll through, but also want to be able to easily grab them in a stack to carry with me when I choose. There is no right or wrong way.

I highly recommend you do this and I’m so thankful to my friend who showed me her own. They don’t need to be fancy or artistic, or written with perfect penmanship. I have “decorated” some of mine and others are a bit messy in comparison. Remember, the point is to grow in our Christian faith and if the cards end up messy it’s ok – it doesn’t matter. If the cards look beautiful than that’s great too.

Please note, these cards do not replace reading your Bible in depth, but again offer you a quick, visual reference that is very helpful (especially if you are struggling.)

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭11‬ ‭
